How ReachTV Delivers NFL Games at Scale on AWS

Live sports streaming looks simple on the surface. A game airs, ads play, viewers watch. But behind the scenes—especially in high‑visibility environments like airports—it requires precise coordination, clear ownership, and systems that perform under pressure.

ReachTV has built an operational model that delivers exactly that. Working with the NFL and Uplynk StreamOps, ReachTV streams live NFL games at scale using workflows running on AWS, supporting monetization and real‑time decision‑making where reliability matters most.

It all starts well before kickoff.

Planning the Season Early

Each season begins with a preseason working session bringing together ReachTV operations, Uplynk StreamOps, and the NFL. The objective is to remove ambiguity early.

Streams, endpoints, and expectations are clearly defined. Schedules are aligned. Technical requirements across AWS‑based streaming services and integrated platforms are reviewed. Rather than exhaustive documentation, the focus is on establishing a shared operating model everyone can rely on once the season begins.

Preparing Streams for Real‑World Conditions

ReachTV creates 16 regional feeds to support coverage across multiple markets. Each feed is tested under real‑world conditions—not just marked as “working.”

Signal quality is verified, AWS‑based infrastructure is validated, and potential issues are identified early. By the time Week 1 arrives, the system has already been tested under meaningful load.

Clear Ownership During Live Events

Once the season starts, structure is essential.

Each NFL game is configured as a discrete event within the Uplynk platform. StreamOps operators and slicers are assigned early in the week, eliminating confusion when issues arise. Ownership is clear well before kickoff, enabling fast response and confident execution across workflows running on AWS.

Monetization Built In—not Added On

Monetization is integrated directly into the live workflow.

ReachTV plans ad pods for each game in advance, defining break timing and duration. During the broadcast, StreamOps operators execute that plan in real time, ensuring ads trigger correctly and monetization performs as expected. Timing and precision are treated as operational requirements—not afterthoughts.

Always‑On Communication

Throughout the week—and especially on game day—ReachTV, Uplynk StreamOps, and the NFL stay connected through shared channels and real‑time updates. Issues are flagged immediately, adjustments are made quickly, and everyone operates from the same source of truth.

Game Day Execution on AWS

By Sunday, execution takes priority.

ReachTV distributes game‑day files from broadcast partners like NBC, CBS, and Fox, outlining commercial break structures for each game. Uplynk StreamOps begins monitoring early, validating AWS‑based streams before kickoff.

As games go live, StreamOps provides real‑time oversight, identifying issues before they reach viewers. In parallel, ReachTV manages ad placements and stream quality across airport environments, where tolerance for failure is extremely low.

Precision from Start to Finish

Using its CMS integrated with Uplynk APIs, ReachTV maintains precise control over when games start and end. Coordination happens in real time. Games begin and end exactly as planned—without drift or guesswork.

Even after streams are live, monitoring continues to ensure ads display correctly and the viewer experience remains consistent across endpoints.

An Operational Model Built to Scale

What distinguishes ReachTV isn’t just technology—it’s how operations are designed around it.

Planning happens early. Ownership is defined. Communication is continuous. Execution is disciplined.

That’s what allows ReachTV to scale live NFL streaming on AWS without adding unnecessary complexity—and why its streams don’t just stay on‑air, but consistently perform.
